Orbit (no longer just Roofs and Staging)…

2011 has seen us delve into a number of special, custom build projects which have although at times been challenging, meant that we have been able to expand into other markets we have not worked with in the past. If you have something unique you would like manufacturing or would like us to adapt any of our current products please do not hesitate to get in touch and we will see what we can do.

Orbit at the Olympics…

A last minute enquiry from Some Such found us manufacturing new components for our steel roof enabling us to expand the span to 25m. Alongside this we also provided 2 runways, 50m and 30m in length, pa masts, lighting towers and a triple level front of house. Our stage and temporary structures were used by Some Such for production of Coca Cola’s new Olympic advert which will be broadcast on our screens shortly.

Orbit News part 2…

The summer is well and truly over, especially with this weather, and hasn’t it been a busy one!! This year has seen us travel the lengths and breadths of the UK with shows from the Shetlands down to Portsmouth. This has been one of the busiest seasons yet, and we have seen a vast improvement in our products and services. Along with our standard Orbit stages and decking we have branched out this year with a number of ad-hoc custom made projects.

Strongbow, the UK’s biggest-selling cider brand, unveiled a new experiential concept for its festival marketing activity. The Graft and The Glory Festival Pub replaces the Bowtime bar, which has been used by the Heineken UK-owned brand since 2008. The new pub was designed and built at Orbit’s yard in time for the Isle of Wight Festival and a second was also manufactured for the V shows.

After winning the contract to build a stand for Nissan at the Goodwood Festival of Speed; we had just 4 weeks to pull it off! A custom steelwork build involving 20 tonnes of steel was constructed in 4 weeks, with another 2 weeks preparation on site. This was then used to support 6 tonnes of video screens and performers from the roof; whilst the stage itself was used to exhibit a further 20 tonnes of shipping containers and a prototype hybrid sports car valued at £1.5million.

We were also lucky enough to work for the BBC as part of the Edinburgh Festival; where for the first time we constructed an orbit building for the month of August. This involved using parts of our existing aluminium orbit system alongside newly manufactured steel components, finished off with custom-made white sheets. This resulted in the ‘Big Bubble’; a 16.8m x 25m, 350 capacity venue for BBC3 comedy.

Looking to the winter, we have a number of indoor jobs coming up, but still have a lot of stock still available. If you need steel deck or decking for both indoor and outdoor work we would be happy to help. We can provide a variety of different sizes including circles and triangles either to rent or buy and can custom make any combination as required. Our roofs are also still available for those adventurous ones of you who still want to brace the Great British weather!
